As Executive VP Operations, Mr. Aro oversees the Ely workforce during day to day operations
as well as personnel development and client relationships. Dustin spent 4 years as an operations manager with Ely before assuming his current position. Since joining Ely & Associates in February 2011, Dustin has continued to build experience technically and operationally in multiple formations and basins. This experience has included design, implementation, and evaluation of single well or multi-well assets. In addition to Ely operations, he has served an in-house technical support role for Anadarko Petroleum, Murphy Exploration, and Frontera Resources.
Mr. Aro began his career in the oil and gas industry as a field engineer with Schlumberger. Over the course of several years, Dustin gained extensive fracturing experience in the Bakken and Three Forks formations. As a field engineer and crew supervisor, he ensured on-site activities met all of the client’s and Schlumberger’s standards for excellence. Before arriving on-site, his responsibilities included pre-job lab testing and preparing job proposal and execution documents. During job execution, Dustin managed the mobilization of equipment, products, and personnel while remaining the on-site technical expert for fluid and reservoir analysis. Following job completion, he audited field tickets, maintained database information, and mentored new employees. Dustin also filled in as a lab technician and completed various fracturing fluid and cement tests prior to job execution.
During his time in the Williston Basin, Dustin treated jobs that were mainly pumped with variations of gel, crosslinked, and slickwater completion fluids. The proppant utilized included sand, resin-coated, and ceramic proppants. Weather conditions in North Dakota also provided QA/QC and operational experience in hot and extreme cold environments.
Mr. Aro also has downstream petroleum industry experience as an Environmental Engineering co-op with Marathon Petroleum Corporation at their refining facility in Saint Paul Park, MN. Over the course of eight months, Dustin worked with facility engineers and contractors on various improvement projects and corresponded regularly with state and federal officials.
Dustin Aro joined Ely and Associates, Inc. as a hydraulic fracturing consultant. Dustin initially supervised the job execution of slickwater, hybrid, and x-link designs in the Eagle Ford and Bakken shales. During his time with Ely, Dustin’s experience has branched into conventional and unconventional well completions in the Wolfcamp, Bone Spring, Woodbine/Eaglebine, Austin Chalk, Wilcox, Olmos, Vicksburg and other formations. He has obtained his EIT certification and is a member in good standing with the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
